HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO RENEW MY CARD?
The registration period for borrowers who provide proof of address in the City of Rockford is three (3) years. The registration period for borrowers with proof of residence in a social service facility or place of long-term temporary lodging in the City of Rockford is one year. People who are working with social service agencies to obtain housing will receive a temp-res card and this card has a 30-day expiration date.

Registrations may be renewed without limit.

HOW DO I RENEW MY CARD?
Renewing your library card is easy. Just bring a current photo ID and proof of residency (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.) to the Circulation desk of any Rockford Public Library location. Children ages 5-13 years will need a parent/guardian present to renew their library card.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T RENEW MY CARD?
Library User records are deleted if the card is not renewed within thirteen months after expiration and if fines owed is less than $5.

WHAT IF MY CARD WAS LOST OR STOLEN?
It is the borrower’s responsibility to notify Rockford Public Library promptly of a lost or stolen card. If loss/theft is not reported, the Library cardholder is responsible for all material charged to the card.

*Cardholders will be held responsible for fines levied prior to the date the loss/theft of the library card is reported, as well as the value of any material borrowed. Patrons will not be held responsible for fines after the date on which the loss/theft is reported.

REPLACEMENT CARDS CARRY A MINIMAL FEE.
