Lincoln in Rockford & Rockford in the Civil War

Thursday, May 8th, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Main Library Auditorium

Did you know that Lincoln came to Rockford as attorney for John Manny who invented the reaper, beat millionaire Cyrus McCormick in a contest, and was sued?  Beverly Broyles, Exec. Dir. Of Tinker Cottage, will highlight this.  Then, Dan Bartlett, Curator of Exhibits at Midway Village, will host a Jeopardy!-style game to bring to life Winnebago County during the Civil War.  For ages 13 and older. Registration is not required.

 

Forever Free - Life During the Civil War

May 10th, 11:00 – 11:45 a.m.

Main Library Little Theatre

Join us as we welcome a historian from Midway Village and Museum Center who will share a trunk of Civil War memorabilia. Learn about the daily lives of children from this time in US History. Registration is not required.

 

Civil War Camp Life on the Rock River

Saturday, May 10th, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

River esplanade on east side of Main Library

 

The Battery G Civil War light artillery reenactment will bring to life an encampment along the Rock River. Mingle, learn and be entertained by soldiers and civilians. Registration is not required.
