Design Plans

The architectural firm of Burnidge Cassell & Associates has been hired to design the new East Branch. They have 40 years of experience designing library facilities. This site will provide residents an east branch that is convenient, modern, efficient, highly visible, and highly usable. Current plans for the grand opening are scheduled for January 2009.

The East Branch Library Branch
will contain:

  • Expanded Collections; including books, DVDs, CDs, digital collections, audio books and periodicals
     
  • Public Access Computer Area; 40 public use computers, 1,100 sq. ft.
     
  • High-speed Internet & Wi-Fi Service
     
  • Coffee Shop; 1,750 sq. ft.
     
  • Lobby; 1,830 sq. ft.
     
  • Community Meeting and Programming Room; 1,200 sq. ft.  Seats 200
     
  • Two Private Tutoring/Study Rooms; 200 sq. ft. each room
     
  • Video, Audio and Periodicals Area; 1,250 sq. ft.
     
  • Children’s Area; 2,900 sq. ft. with Performance Stage and Story Time Area
     
  • Young Adult’s Area; 750 sq. ft., 10 public use computers
     
  • Fiction Collection; 4,600 sq. ft.
     
  • Staff Work Space; 2,200 sq. ft.
     
  • Extended hours of operation
