September is the Month to Love Your Library – Your Way

A Library Card Drive and Amnesty Days give you 2 ways to love your Library.

The Rockford Public Library is offering amnesty days and sponsoring a card drive for the entire month of September. Love Your Library month is part of RPL’s Your Library, Your Way campaign. There are rewards for everyone who participates, including the chance to win a Kindle ebook reader.

Amnesty Days
If you’ve been avoiding the Library because of fines and late fees, now is the time to come back. If you have overdue items, gather them up and take them to the library during the month of September and your fines will be waived. Sorry, fines previously paid will not be refunded.
What you need to do: Overdue items can be returned to the Circulation desk of any Rockford Public
Library location and fines will be waived regardless of how long they are overdue. Customers who have lost items will have to pay replacement costs. To request amnesty, email lyl@rockfordpubliclibrary.org or call (815) 987-6667.

Library Card Drive
Don’t have a library card? September is the month to get one. Go to any Rockford Public Library location to sign up for a library card. When you do, you’ll automatically be entered to win one of 5 Kindle ebook readers that will be given away at the end of the month.
What you need to do: Getting your library card is easy. Just bring a current photo ID and proof of residency (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.) to the Circulation desk of any Rockford Public Library location and complete an application. Children ages 5-14 years will need a parent/guardian with them to apply for a library card. If you’ve lost your card, stop by the Library for a new one and your fee will be waived.
