Deborah Fortune brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to RPL.
The Rockford Public Library is pleased to announce that Deborah Fortune has joined the RPL staff as Community Relations Officer.
A long-time Rockford resident, Fortune brings over 20 years of marketing experience to RPL. She also brings a unique background to her new role, having marketed architectural firms that specialize in designing public libraries. In this capacity, she was known for her exceptional ability to help these organizations gain market share, increase visibility and get real results.
As Community Relations Officer, she will lead her team in marketing the Library’s wide range of programs, services and activities, as well as coordinating community partnerships. A top priority for the team will be building community awareness to attract new cardholders and drive attendance at RPL-sponsored events and programs.
“I’m focused on reaching further into the community and getting the word out on what a unique asset the city of Rockford has,” said Fortune. “The Library offers such a wide range of programs and services – many of which can be accessed from the convenience of home. With a library card, you can access online learning, download music and e-books, stream videos and much more. My goal is to create awareness of all the Library offers.”
The Rockford Public Library, founded in 1872 as the second library in Illinois, currently has seven facilities, including the Nordlof Center (aka Sullivan Center), Main Library and five Branch Libraries. The Rockford Public Library’s mission is to enhance community life and development by informing, educating, entertaining, and providing cultural enrichment to all people of all ages by collecting information to address the diverse interests of our dynamic community.
