One Book, One Rockford Author Lecture to Change Venues

Author and TV personality Anthony Bourdain to speak at Giovanni’s

Rockford Public Library today announced that its One Book, One Rockford author lecture is changing venues. Anthony Bourdain, author of Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly and host of the Discovery Travel Channel show No Reservations, will speak on Friday, May 18th at Giovanni’s instead of the Rockford Theater at the Rockford Woman’s Club as previously planned. The new venue will allow for additional public seating, which library officials are pleased about.

“The move to Giovanni’s allows us to seat about 200 more people,” said Frank Novak, Executive Director for Rockford Public Library. “Given the tremendous response to Mr. Bourdain’s visit, we feel that this will work very well.”

Bourdain will be in Rockford May 18th and 19th. On May 18th, he will speak about his book, Kitchen Confidential, and his adventures before and after becoming one of the world’s most recognizable chefs. This lecture is free and open to the public. Reservations can be made online at www.rockfordpubliclibrary.org/events or by calling (815) 965-7606, option #5. Over 650 people have already registered for the event and seating is limited. On May 19th, the Rockford Public Library Foundation will host a fundraising dinner at the Rockford Country Club. Bourdain will speak to potential “gastro-tourists” about extreme cuisine all over the world and provide tips for discovering cultures through food. Tickets are $75 each and can be reserved by contacting Renee Jensen, Development Officer at Rockford Public Library at (815) 987-6611.

Both events are part of the One Book, One Rockford community-wide reading program. For details on these and other culinary-themed One Book programs, visit the Rockford Public Library website at www.rockfordpubliclibrary.org.
