Dear Friend,

We’re writing to you about the important role of the Library in the Rockford community during these difficult economic times.  More individuals and families are turning to the Library to take advantage of our extensive resources such as: books, DVDs, CDs, computers, high-speed Internet, informational databases, computer classes, literacy services and cultural programs.

We hope that you will take a moment to consider a tax-deductible gift to the Rockford Public Library which helps support all of these services and more for you, your family and neighbors.  Think too, of those in need during these unsettling times who depend upon the Library, and help us make a difference by providing vital services to the Rockford community.

In 2010:

• We recorded record breaking participation in our Summer Reading Club program, over 11,000 children and adults signed up to read during the summer months. 

• To address the community’s high unemployment rate we redesigned and expanded our schedule of computer classes.

• The Library added informational databases to help patrons find employment

• We introduced Babes & Books and the SOUNS program, which teaches early literacy skills to toddlers.
