Dear Friend,
The Rockford Public Library fulfills a crucial role in the Rockford community during these difficult economic times. More individuals and families are turning to the Library to take advantage of our extensive resources including: downloadable e-books and music, computers, high-speed Internet, books, informational databases, computer software classes, literacy education and cultural art programs.
We hope that you will take a moment to consider a tax-deductible gift to the Rockford Public Library which helps support all of these services and more for you, your family and neighbors.
There is no easier way to receive a charitable deduction for 2011 than to write a
check in support of the Library. Think, too, of those in need during these unsettling
times who depend upon the Library, and help us make a difference by providing
vital services to the Rockford community.
Your contribution helps to
support library resources.
Adapting to community needs.
The Rockford Public Library is adapting to the challenges of the
digital age and the needs of the community by providing expanded collections of downloadable books, music, and hundreds of databases to help
bridge the digital divide for all citizens.
Helping people find jobs.
Thousands of citizens depend upon our computers
and high-speed Internet service, and this demand
continues to grow. Patrons search the Internet for job
openings, type up a resume or apply for jobs online. The
library provides a wide variety of free computer business
software and career development classes. Our Universal
Class database provides 500 certified business training
courses that patrons can complete at no cost.
Providing literacy and
educational opportunities.
Developing good reading skills is critical
for a child’s success in school and in their future career.
Our Summer Reading Club is the largest literacy program in the region. This year over
11,000 residents participated and 5,400 children completed the two month program.
Our staff also provides story times, Saturday Spectaculars, Black History Month programs and creative workshops for people of all ages.
Promoting family fun.
With families tightening their budgets, entertainment options may
become limited. Bring your family to the library to enjoy a game night,
poetry slam or learn to make a fun craft. We present musicians, dancers, puppeteers, singers and poets to entertain and delight. Teens can enjoy our Young Adult Zone or relax with friends and play games in a safe and
supervised environment.
Your check of $50, $150 or more will make a real difference in 2012.
Thank you for your support!
