Description   
The Era L. Walker Jr. Scholarship Fund is offered through the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois, to assist African American males who demonstrate a desire to develop personally and professionally.

To apply, you must complete an online application and submit a packet of additional materials in hard copy by the deadline. See www.cfnil.org.

Who Qualifies  
Applicant must be an African American male in Winnebago or Boone county who has a high school diploma and has successfully completed at least three full years of work experience, community service, or a combination of both. Minimum graduating GPA 2.7. Applicants with non-traditional backgrounds or previous education that was interrupted due to financial reasons are encouraged to apply. Applicant must share Era's values including the importance of family, service to one's community and the compassionate treatment of others. The review committee will consider educational goals, professional goals, community service, financial need, intended use of scholarship funds, and tireless devotion to the pursuit of higher education despite obstacles.
