Young Women in Public Affairs Award

Description   
The YWPA program (funded by the Zonta International Foundation) encourages young women to participate in public & political life by recognizing a commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements & a dedication to the advancement of the status of women. District recipients receive $1000. Five international recipients are selected from the District recipients to receive awards of $3,000 each. If you do not live in the Beloit area, you can locate a Zonta Club near you by using the Club Locator at www.zonta.org (or email ywpachairman@zonta.org), and an application may be downloaded from that site. YOU MUST CONTACT A ZONTA CLUB BEFORE SENDING IN YOUR APPLICATION.

Who Qualifies  
Pre-university or pre-college students (age 16-19) at the time of application.

Requirements  
Applications must show evidence of:
- Active commitment to volunteerism,
- Experience in local or student government,
- Volunteer leadership achievements,
- Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs
- Advocating in Zonta International's mission of advancing the status of women worldwode

Applicant must send in an official application, verification of current enrollment by school official, and two confidential recommendations.
