Whether
you need books, music, movies or you have a challenging reference
question, we’re here to help. Getting your library card
is the best way to access the wealth of information and resources
available to you!
Who can get a free library card?
The library is funded through City property tax dollars. If you
live within the city of Rockford, you “pay” for
service through your taxes and are eligible to receive a free
library card. Those who live outside of the city limits are
eligible to pay for library services and receive their library
card for an annual fee of $110. Rockford city limits are tricky, so
ask us if you are unsure about whether or not you live within
them.
What do I need to get my library card?
Getting your library card is easy. Just bring a current photo ID and proof of residency (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.) to the Circulation desk of any Rockford Public Library location and complete an application. Children under 14 years will need a parent/guardian with them to apply for a library card.
