INSURANCE: Part-time employees who work 20-25 hours per week are eligible for optional health/dental coverage. If health/dental insurance is elected, coverage is effective on the first day of the month following his/her start date. Open enrollment is in November/December each year, with coverage effective the first day of the succeeding year. Premium costs vary depending on the plan selected. ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT FUND (IMRF): All part-time employees working 20 hours or more per week are required to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. This is a mandatory 4.5% deduction from each paycheck that contributes to your disability and retirement funds.
VACATION: Part-time employees who work 20 hours per week are entitled to paid vacation time on a prorated monthly basis. Vacation is available after successfully completing the six-month probationary period. At the employee’s discretion, eighty (80) hours of vacation may be carried into the succeeding calendar year.
REGULAR HOLIDAYS: Part-time employees are entitled to nine (9) regular holidays observed on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve Day.
FLOATING HOLIDAYS: Based on start date, part-time employees are entitled to four (4) floating holidays per year. Floating holidays are granted in addition to regular holiday closures.
SICK DAYS: Part-time employees are entitled to four (4) hours of sick leave every month, credited on the first day of the month, following the month in which the sick leave was earned. Part-time employees can accumulate up to 480 days (4 hours per day).
UNION: The library is a member of Local 3350. The library is a member of Local 3350. Fairshare Member: $21.48 – Union Member: $26.54. If hired, a union representative will contact the new employee.
PARKING: The library provides free parking to all staff.
