The Rockton Centre Branch Library serves Rockford's northwest community and is the newest of Rockford’s five branch library facilities. In May 2000, it moved from the back of the mall to a new and more-visible location inside the Rockton Avenue Shopping Centre. This branch first opened its doors in April 1961 as a storefront in the mall. In 1975, it moved behind the center to a larger facility.
The decision in 2000 to move it to the front of the mall resulted in an immediate increase in circulation.

Collection & Programs:

The branch's collection focuses on topics and formats appropriate for the older adult. This branch has one of the largest large print book collections in the branches. Free Internet and word processing services are also available at this branch facility.
